Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said at just after 9pm: "We currently have six fire engines attending a commercial building fire on Lower Audley Street, Blackburn. The blaze sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky, with people reporting they could see and smell it from several miles away. Part of Lower Audley Street was blocked off as crews rushed to the scene, with traffic building up in the surrounding area. Photos from the area show the flames and smoke appeared to be coming from the rear of the unit. Six crews were at the scene, with the blaze appearing to be behind a unit on Lower Audley Street.Īt this stage it is unclear exactly which shop is affected, but onlookers said they believed the fire was at the B&M store. Firefighters were tackling a huge fire at a Blackburn retail park on Saturday night (May 6).
